On the 24th, heads turn to something that might be a bit more season as well as different from the usual assortment of Club offerings. Certainly, members are using the forums and email to arrange for the occasional off-road journey here or there, but something that is not generally considered is a leisurely country drive in our aluminium steeds.

To address this perceived need our esteemed El Presidente is considering arranging a country tours to points east. Well, a particular point east, namely the Beau's Brewery in Vankleek Hill. A small micro brewery of rising popularity that had gone from running four days a week to 7/24 over the past year, they offer both tours to show how they make their as well as provide free samples. As this is an informational tour and not an open bar, they do have a patio where one can sit and relax over a few after the tour of a local, family-run, award winning, organic and totally DIY brewery.

For those unfamiliar with the location, Vankleek Hill is approximately 58 miles east of Parliament Hill via Highway 17. More information in a future newsletter or in the forums. For those interested, their web site is http://www.beaus.ca/.

The Event:

In consideration of the fact that there is a patio with food and adult beverages, featuring Beau's own products after the tour, there is a proposed stop in Alfred On. for a "LIGHT" lunch. The town of Alfred is historically famous for it's reform school and it's steamed hot dog & french fry restaurants! O.V.L.R.'s resident food cricket took it upon himself to sample the wares of the two major players in town and has suggested we stop at Landriault's snack bar, mid town on the north side of hiway 17. {45-33'34"N 74-52'38"W}

After our health food fix we leave Alfred via hiway 17 east to Caledonia Rd. (Route20), Turn right and follow to concession 1, turn left. Follow Conc. 1 to "T" junction at Pearl Rd.Turn right and follow to junction. Co Rd. 10, Vankleek Hill Rd, Turn left and follow into town of Vankleek Hill. Proceed straight through traffic lights and over hill/ down across rail rd. tracks and turn left onto Terry Fox Dr. Beau's is on the right. {43-31'0"N 74-38'14"W}
